Hey, baby

Baby bumps seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment, and today another of my girl friends announced that she’s going to be a mother. I’m super-excited for her, and so thought in her honor, that I would do a little posting on nurseries.

When I was at university, I worked in an independent baby shop in Chicago. It meant I spent a lot of time around beautifully expensive furniture, prams, clothes – you name it, we sold the best of it. Back then, I imagined my future nursery as a very sophisticated, calm space. Dark furniture, cream walls, and pistachio green accents. Nice, unisex, and simple. But now I realise that the fun thing about nurseries is the opportunity to let your imagination run wild, and do something truly different to the rest of your house. Whether you want to be more childish, modern, or whimsical, this is a chance to create an amazing space for your little one to live, grow and learn. And just think back to when you were younger – one of your friends always had that really cool room (and the cool house to match) that everyone envied. What made them cool? They were fun, liveable, and child-friendly.

So without further ado, here are a few of my favourite nurseries from Pinterest at the moment. For the links, head over to my Pinterest page – they’re there waiting for you! Happy planning!

  1. We hung a hand made quilt, a family heirloom, on the wall behind the crib that was great color and patterns for baby to look at.
