Happy Thursday

It’s Thursday, and I’m feeling pretty happy that it’s almost the weekend. So that got me thinking about happiness, and getting to spend some time at home. And then that made me think about the places in our homes that make us happy. And I wondered; does everyone have a spot in their home where they feel happiest? If so, what is it about that place that makes it so special? Then I thought, ‘Hm, that could make a pretty fun regular post’ – partly because I think it will be fun to see how different everyone’s places are. So here’s the plan:

Once a week, I’m going to post a photo of the place in your home that makes you happiest. With each photo, I want to include a little paragraph about why this place makes you so happy. And if you have a website, I’ll include that too.

I’ll start with mine. This may change once we move to the new home, but the place that currently makes me happiest is a little chair named ‘Bouk’:

Bouk, our Robert Parry find
Bouk, my favourite spot to sit and read

Bouk (named after the man who sold & personally delivered this guy to our home) is a Rob Parry chair that I accidentally bid on one Sunday night when browsing eBay. Rob Parry is a Dutch furniture designer who, from what I can tell, has stayed pretty under the radar. I can’t find much about him, but that isn’t why I bought it in the first place. I loved the geometric shape, the teak wood, and the soft woolen fabric. I expected to be quickly outbid, but somehow my cheeky offer ended up winning. It arrived at our house three weeks later, and I was one very happy girl. So happy, that I gave him a name.

It’s where I love to sit and read. The back is perfectly arched so I can curl into it, and the seat is nice and wide. The sturdy arms give just enough structure and are the perfect height to lean on. Plus I’m quite smug about the fact that he was a bit of a bargain. Every time I pass it I smile, and when I’m sitting in it, I totally switch off and relax.

So that’s mine; I’d love to know what yours is. Email: (www.live.style.uk@gmail) with 200 words or less on why you love it so much. I’ll post one a week.

Happy Thursday! 🙂

  1. Was literally just thinking about this! I think our personal space is an incredibly important- yet often overlooked- detail in our lives. I notice that I completely avoid the bits of my home that befuddle my senses and leave me feeling “icky,” while I gravitate towards those spaces that I had carefully curated with trinkets and books. I’ll send pictures. And thanks for starting your blog! You’ve given me proper motivation tonreally start- of course now I must find a new niche because it was very similar to yours 🙂

    • Ha – great minds! I’ve been inspired by lots of other people’s blogs, so there’s no reason why you can’t do one too. Will be super excited to see your photos. Your home is a-mazing. Definitely get it going – I’d love to see what you write! 🙂
