Hello to those of you who haven’t given up on me! I’m sorry it’s been so quiet on here lately. In the last few weeks I’ve been in Dublin, Switzerland, home ill in bed, and celebrating a very important 30th birthday (ahem – Liam!). In my time off, I’ve been sleeping and playing catch up, so sadly the blog had to take a little back seat. But now, we’ll be back to our regular programming. Starting with a designer I stumbled into the other week – Jennifer Newman.
I found her brochure for her furniture in The Modern Pantry, one of my favourite spots to grab a quick but beautiful bite to eat in London. Her furniture is sustainable, playful, robust, and spans sophisticated wood pieces that work well indoors, through to eye-popping powder coated aluminium pieces that will withstand even the worst of British weather.
As spring has decided to start making an appearance, our fingers are itching to tackle our rag-tag back garden. I would snap up this canary yellow picnic bench in a heartbeat.
Or for a more quirky take on a family-friendly trestle table, something like this would be right up my street:
Each piece is created in the UK, and can be customised to suit your colour or design needs. If you want to see her work in person, there’s a pop-up shop open at the moment, featuring her latest designs:
Date: 10-15 March 2014
Location: Craft Central, 33-35 St John’s Square, London EC1M 4DS
Opening times: Mon-Fri 10.30am-8pm Sat 10am-12noon
And if you can’t make it there, she’ll also be making an appearance at Clerkenwell Design Week (for more information, head here: http://www.clerkenwelldesignweek.com)
Final option is of course her website (www.jennifernewman.com) where you can check out her full range of work. I love the intensity of colour and simplicity of form; a combination that never fails to make me smile.
Thanks for sticking around – I promise you’ll hear from me much more often in the coming weeks! Our home is going to be a busy place over the coming months as we tackle a complete kitchen overhaul and a bathroom too. With lots of other fun things in the pipeline that we’re still baking up, I’ll be doing my best to bring you the latest and greatest in interiors. And would love to hear from you too. Just drop me a line!
Wishing everyone a lovely and sunny Friday!
