Good morning everyone! Hope you all had lovely weekends, and are ready for another week. If you’ve been following along, you’ve seen me blog about my decision to have maternity and newborn photos done with Custard Cream Photography. I wanted to share an amazing initiative that Carla is a part of – The Butterfly Wishes Network. This organisation puts families who have a child with a life-limiting illness in touch with a network of professional photographers. The photographers donate their time and 10 or more digital files to the family so that amidst all the stress and cost of looking after an unwell child, there’s a chance for parents to make happy, lasting memories of their special family.
When I asked Carla what made her decide to get involved, her response really resonated with me:
I first heard about the network as it was started by some fellow newborn photographers who are part on an online photographer group. They had such passion and drive to get it off the ground and worked really hard to make it work. I have 2 children of my own, Mia and Jacob, who have the biggest hearts I know. It was my daughter Mia, then 7, who said ‘Mummy you definitely must join because those families have poorly children and you take good pictures and they will like them’. I truly admire the strength and courage of these families who have such difficult times and I am privileged to document these relationships and bonds for the family to treasure.
The network is very new, and simply looking to spread awareness so that families in need know the service is available.
