Happy 2016 everyone! We’ve had the last two weeks off work to relax with friends and family, and it’s been bliss. We’ve also taken the first week of January off, and are planning to spend the time catching up on sleep and just enjoying London while our gorgeous girl is busy back at nursery.
Over the break, I’ve had a lot of time to think about the year gone and make plans for the year to come. One big thing I’ve been thinking about is this little blog. The arrival of Freja definitely dropped it to the bottom of my priority list – especially once I went back to work and we were trying to establish a new routine that made everyone happy. I realised that over the course of its life, I’ve not really taken it seriously. Instead I’ve treated it very much as an online journal that happens to have a design focus. Photography and posts have been ad hoc, and I’ve yet to write a proper content plan. I know what I should be doing, but haven’t put the effort in (sorry about that).
The last month, I’ve been weighing up whether or not to close it down, and focus my time on work, the house, friends, and family. However, I realised I’m not ready to say goodbye just yet. So instead, 2016 will be the year that I take writing for live-style seriously. We’ll continue with the home improvements and projects, and I’d like to start taking on a few projects outside my house as well. Maybe even featuring some other people’s houses. I will continue reviewing shops and designers as they pop up. I’ve got a few new ones to share already, and am excited to pass them on to you. And as I get back into my travelling groove, I’ll be sharing inspiration from amazing places around the world. I’ve got a few other content streams up my sleeve, but those are in development and I will reveal them when they’re a bit more ‘baked’.
I’ve decided to keep family stuff in the background, so have set up a new Instagram account that will be exclusively for this blog. If you want to follow along, it’s livestylelondon That’s not to say there won’t be the odd reference to my life every now and then, but those will be few and far between. Finally, I’m hoping to give the site a proper refresh over the coming months, and would very much welcome any advice anyone has in that area.
I’ll be posting at least twice a week; Tuesdays and Fridays are when I would recommend stopping by. But you might get a few surprise extra posts every now and again too. A massive thank you to those of you who’ve stuck with me for so long. Hopefully you like the sound of what 2016 will bring.
Any one else using the new year to shift gears on their blog? Or to pay more attention to something you’ve neglected? I’m excited to see where this next year takes us. Hope you stick around for the ride.
