My first week back at work, and I’m already wondering where the last three weeks went. I’m not really doing new years resolutions, but over our break I resolved to make our bedroom more of a ‘resting’ space so that what little sleep we do get is good and rejuvenating. The changes are pretty simple – three things that have already helped loads.
First, some people swear by lavender pillow spray. I’ve never been a fan as I find the aromas start off really pungent, and then die away quite quickly. Instead, I picked up a bundle of dried lavender for £3 from Borough Market and have this next to my bedside table. It looks pretty, and one week later it still smells lovely in a really soft, natural way.
Second, my husband and I treat ourselves to fresh sheets every year. Last year we went for The White Company. This year, I’m interested in shifting to linen sheets as I’ve heard they keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I’m excited to try these out from Loaf, and will be ordering as soon as January payday hits. Which gives me just enough time to decide which colour I’m going for.
Finally, I’m very guilty of piling up clothes at the end of my bed – not the dirty ones obviously; just the jumpers that won’t be washed every time I wear them. I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager but with our lovely new wardrobes, I’ve really got no excuse. It’s time to break this bad habit. So now, every morning our bed gets made and every night our room is tidied. Clean room, clean mind.
Any changes you’ve made to help make your bedroom more restful? Has anyone tried out Feng Shui with good results? I’ve just ordered a book from Amazon to see if there are any tips I can pick up, and would love to hear any other suggestions you have. Thanks for stopping by!
